2004 Competition Award Clarification

***Award #13  Design in triplicate means that the button must have the same design 3 times, like if you would divide the button into 3 equal sections (like pieces of pie), each section is the same. There does not have to be a central axis. If there is paint on the button, the sections do not have to be the same color.

Award #21 Several people have asked about the puzzle button. This 4 part button will be considered as 1 button.
2004 Competition Award Clarification

Award #22   Several have questioned this award. Do not reach on this award!! For instance, do not put a “strawberry” button on your tray and consider that it is a berry and starts with the letter “B”. However, a Bluberry would be a good choice, because it does start with the letter “B”. Be Careful-do-not, for instance , use a button of a beautiful woman because the “B” word is an adjective, and the main noun starts with “w”. This will be a fun award, so put on your thinking caps! Labeling will be helpful.

Award# 29R & N Celluloid, Specialized to Inserted Back. Buttons included in this particular award must be celluloid inserted backs, but do not have to be coated and buffed. Certainly, many of your button choices for this award will be coated and buffed, however, there are some celluloid inserted backs that are not coated and buffed. The comments made on page 40 in the BSBS Bulletin, Summer 2003 issue, may be misleading for this particular award. This award was misinterpreted in 2002 and re-written for 2004. The intention of the original donor of the award was to include ALL celluloid inserted back. Some of these celluloid inserted backs were just painted, and the paint has partially rubbed off from wear giving a “buffed” appearance, but are not true “buffed” Buttons. These buttons are allowed in this award.

Award # 35  For World Globes or Maps- a state is not permissible. Read G-23, No. 272 to learn what is not considered astronomical, for help with weather related objects. Summer Issue—Volume 56, Number 2, July 2003…page 66
